Kristen here. One of the things that has really helped us has been our investors packet/ prospectus. This packet includes our cover art, a table of contents, legal disclaimers, a one page treatment of the movie, our potential cast, market research showing similar movies that have made a profit, and a supporting article that shows why this movie is relevant today.
This took some time to put together and we had help. But this is one of the most important things when approaching investors. That and our pitch. It is true that one should always be pitching. Tell everyone about your movie. I recently broke down the points that I want to make to investors and have been practicing that pitch daily. Tomorrow I pitch this movie to an important person and hopefully secure a meeting with a potential investor. So wish me luck.
With a pitch, it is important to paint a picture of your movie quickly, otherwise you lose attention. The movie mash up has proven successful for a lot of people. This is where you pair one (well known movie) with another to tell what your movie is like. So Transgenesis is a mix of Cabin Fever and Soylent Green. This gives you a picture that the movie takes place in a cabin in the woods with a sci-fi twist that is food related.
And remember, while pitching, share your excitement level. If you don’t love this movie and can’t get excited about it, why should they?
